Jacob takes on production
Welcome to Jacob Fevrier-Pickering who is our new Production Facilities apprentice at Platform. His duties will include helping with lighting rigging and sound systems for live events, setting up projection and computer equipment and giving advice and help to customers. In addition, Jacob will be undertaking formal training in Cultural Venue and Heritage Operations level 3. Jacob was previously a Young Creative Producer at Platform and was part of the amazing OCCUPY Platform production team.
The post was created with support from Islington Council’s Creative Employment Programme which is funded by Arts Council England. A total of eleven apprenticeships have been created at arts organisations across Islington.
A launch event to welcome all the apprentices was held at Platform last week. Previous young apprentices were there to give advice to the new intake. Top tips included;
Inexperience is an opportunity –don’t be limited by your age
Be proactive, passionate and punctual
Be inspired, take every opportunity and don’t be afraid to ask for help
CJ Dyson, general manager at Platform says
“Congratulations to all of the young people who have been appointed. They now have a fantastic opportunity to learn from some very well respected local arts organisations many of whom work closely with Platform. The next few months will be an exciting time”
In addition to Isledon the other arts partners involved are All Change, Almeida Theatre, Creative Islington, John Jones Ltd, the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, Reel Islington, Rowan Arts and Sadler’s Wells.
